R744 Solutions Designed and Built for New Zealand

At SCM REF NZ, we are proud to be delivering locally designed and built R744 (CO₂) solutions for the New Zealand market.

Recently commissioned on site are two SBTDX22 R744 LT booster units from our new LT range. They are looking sharp, performing exactly as intended, and running impressively quietly with Frascold compressors. These units complement our well-established R744 SMTDX medium temperature range, providing a complete and proven CO₂ solution across applications.

Designed within the standard PattonPak dimensions and layouts, the R744 range follows the same philosophy as our synthetic units. Robust construction, ease of servicing, and reliability remain at the core. All units are designed to be plug-and-play, with optional on-site commissioning support and local training available when required.

For smaller projects, customers benefit from a single-source solution, with R744 units, evaporators, and full control packages available, often ex-stock.

While the higher upfront capital cost of R744 compared to synthetic refrigerants can still be a barrier, interest in CO₂ systems across New Zealand continues to grow steadily. It is encouraging to see customers who undertake their first R744 project quickly gain confidence and look to expand further. This momentum is driving broader adoption, increased industry capability, and greater awareness of sustainable refrigeration solutions nationwide.
